Azules ojos hermosos y mutados: cautivantes fotos de una tribu de Buton

El síndrome de Waardenburg, una mutación hereditaria que produce cambios de pigmentación, es más común entre los nativos de la isla de Buton.

En una isla de Indonesia, país donde gran parte de la población tiene cabello negro y ojos oscuros, existe una tribu en la que varios de sus miembros destacan por sus ojos excepcionalmente azules y de un particular brillo profundo debido a una rara condición genética.

Los peculiares rasgos han sido captados en un conjunto de instantáneas publicadas por el fotógrafo Korchnoi Pasaribu en su cuenta de Instagram.

Pasaribu se encontraba visitando la isla de Buton el pasado 17 de septiembre y pudo fotografiar los rostros de algunos habitantes en medio de la naturaleza con su vestimenta tradicional. Se concentró sobre todo en sus impresionantes ojos azules que resaltan sobre el color de su piel.

Se cree que estos rasgos se deben a una mutación genética hereditaria conocida como síndrome de Waardenburg. Aunque afecta a aproximadamente una persona de 42.000 a nivel mundial, en esta tribu es más común debido a que muchos de sus miembros son familia.

Desde niños hasta adultos, hombre y mujeres padecen este trastorno genético. En algunos casos sus ojos pueden ser de colores diferentes, uno oscuro y otro claro.
